Volterra were thrilled to host a Future of London training day last Friday.

For those who aren’t aware, the Future of London Emerging Talent Programme seeks to improve ethnic diversity in the built environment sector. Each year, they employ a cohort of outstanding young people from underrepresented groups and use employer partnerships to provide the cohort with long-term work placements, training days and industry mentors.

On the training day, the group got to hear about each other’s work placements, highlighting the broad range of job opportunities in this sector. We also ran a workshop with them on the type of thing we get up to at Volterra – the group were tasked with designing a 15-minute city, using data and policy analysis to drive their urban planning decisions. We were hugely impressed with the speed at which the cohort picked up on key concepts and the thoughtfulness they gave to their 15-minute cities.

Thanks very much to Future of London for letting us take part in your fantastic programme. We loved meeting you all and were truly inspired by the ideas and lively discussion coming out of the day.
